Unitrans casts a vote for free rides June 7, Nov. 8
The campus-city bus system is sending an important message to the community: Get out there and vote! And, if you need a ride, take Unitrans for free on June 7 and Nov. 8, the dates of the primary and general elections. The idea came from law student Lars Reed after he learned that other cities were doing it. "Anything to make it easier to get to the polling place is a good thing," he says. [ More… ]

Biomedical innovations take top prizes in Big Bang! competition
PlayPatch, maker of a natural alternative to birth control pills, takes the $20,000 first prize and the $2,500 People's Choice award in the 16th annual UC Davis Big Bang! Business Competition. ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Staff MBA Scholarships — With this new program, the Graduate School of Management invites eligible staff members to apply for $7,200 in fee assistance annually for three years in the GSM's part-time MBA programs in Sacramento or the Bay Area.
- Firefighters contract negotiations — The university will convene initial public notice meetings May 31 and June 7 in connection with negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with UC Davis Local 4920 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
- Road closure — Tercero Hall Circle is closed just east of Dairy Road through Friday, Sept. 2, for underground construction. Detours will be posted for alternate routes via Hutchison Drive and Bioletti Way. Cars and trucks are permitted temporary access to Tercero Hall Circle off Bioletti Way.
