UC Davis has three new members of the National Academy of Sciences: Savithramma P. Dinesh-Kumar, Department of Plant Biology; Walter S. Leal, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology; and Richard Michelmore, Department of Plant Sciences.
The UC Davis Coffee Center — the first academic research and teaching facility in the U.S. entirely dedicated to the study of coffee — is up and running, bringing together more than 50 UC Davis experts from a range of academic fields.

Students Compete to Turn Food Waste Into Tasty Dishes
Students in a recent culinary showdown transformed a byproduct created during the beer brewing process into such dishes as Georgian cheese bread, fish tacos, quesabirria tacos and churros.
