Honoring Life-Saving Officers

In recent months, UC Davis Police have performed CPR on a student who had stopped breathing, convinced another to step back from a six-story ledge, pulled a driver from a burning car and more. They were honored at a recent ceremony that also welcomed newly hired and promoted staff.

A ‘Best Employer’ in 2 Areas

UC Davis has made Forbes’ lists for top employers for diversity and women, the latter announced today (July 25). The two  rankings are based on anonymous employee surveys and analysis of factors like organizations’ diversity data and the percentage of women in leadership roles.

Reducing Barriers to Learning Through Open Source Tech

Oliver Kreylos earned a UC Tech honor for his work with technology like the augmented reality sandbox, which lets participants shape sand landscapes and see how their handiwork would affect rain runoff. Chris Brandt of the School of Veterinary Medicine also earned a UC Tech Award.

A Lifetime of Achievement
in Chemical Engineering

Distinguished Professor Jennifer Sinclair Curtis is vocal about the need to encourage women to pursue STEM, and as dean she led the College of Engineering to boost female retention. Now a professional group has honored her with an award for both research and efforts to support other women.
