Parents need not fret their infants will not recognize them with their masks off. “When babies learned a masked face, and then they saw that face again unmasked, they recognized it,” says Michaela DeBolt, a doctoral candidate who worked with psychology professor Lisa Oakes on the study, which involved tracking the infants’ eye movements.

New Emeriti, New Lectures
|
Distinguished Professor Walter Leal is shining a spotlight on new emeriti, some of whom you would never know had “retired.” In addition to making a video tribute to faculty who transitioned to emeritus status in 2021-22, he has organized a lecture series that will next feature paleobiologist Geerat Vermeij, Wednesday, Feb. 15. The Zoom option is still open for registration.

ADMAN Conference 2023 — Registration is open for this annual program put on by the Administrative Management Group, or ADMAN, for staff at all levels. The Craft Center will show off its updated facility, including a maker space, during an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 15, open to all, just as the center’s programs are open to all: students, staff, faculty and general public (ages 18 and up). The event will include demonstrations and snacks, and the opportunity “to get involved in the happiest place to craft in Davis.”
