A Vegan Tasting Adventure

Chefs across Yolo County are competing this month to see who can create the most delicious vegan dishes, and Dining Services has thrown its hat into the ring with tacos, a po’ boy and a burger. UC Davis Magazine intern Kristen Yeung, a nutrition major, tried each and gave her overall impressions.

Sustainability Champion Awards — Call for nominations of environmental leaders on campus — students, staff and faculty/academic staff — who exemplify why UC Davis continues to lead the way in sustainability efforts. Deadline: May 7.

Sustainability Culture Survey — Staff, faculty and students who complete the survey by May 12 will be entered into a drawing with four $125 Davis Co-op gift cards as prizes.

Executive recruitment: Dean-School of Education — A virtual candidate forum will be held at 2:15 p.m. today (April 25) to hear Candidate A’s qualifications and vision for the School of Education. Forums for additional candidates are forthcoming.

Russell Boulevard bike lane and sidewalk closure — South side of Russell between Arthur Street and Orchard Park Drive (adjacent to the Orchard Park apartments construction site), closed for repairs, through June 26. Detour via the bike path that crosses Highway 113 south of Russell.

The Center for Advocacy, Resources and Education, or CARE, concludes Sexual Assault Awareness Month with Denim Day tabling on the Quad, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday (April 26). Staff members also are invited to come up to the DeCarli Room, second floor of the Memorial Union, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., to learn the history of Denim Day and for information on how to engage in sexual violence prevention on campus.
The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art cites “unprecedented interest and enthusiasm” in the art professor’s first solo U.S. show in 20 years. New closing date: July 15.
