2 Tentative Deals in Strike
|
Shortly before noon today (Nov. 29), the UC Office of the President announced it had reached tentative agreements with the United Auto Workers, or UAW, on new five-year contracts for postdoctoral scholars and academic researchers, two of the four categories of UAW-represented employees who went on strike Nov. 14.

Law School Shuns USNWR
|
Dean Kevin R. Johnson announces that the School of Law will no longer provide data to U.S. News & World Report for its rankings. In a Nov. 28 letter to the law school community, the dean says, in part, that the “rankings discourage law schools from enrolling more diverse student bodies and do not in any way value more diverse law faculties.”

It Was a Wakanda Holiday
|
Chancellor Gary S. May has long extended an offer to host movie outings, but he has a rule: “It has to be a movie I want to see!” And this one, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, “is one I really want to see,” he told an audience of about 100 students who accepted his invitation to see the movie in a theater auditorium he rented in downtown Davis.

Temporary street closure and bus stop relocation in UC Davis West Village — Sage Street will be closed for repairs between Jade Street and the northernmost traffic circle on Hutchison Drive, Dec. 5-30. Street parking will be banned and the bus stop will be on Jade Street.

Flu shots — All employees must receive a flu vaccination or formally opt out by this Thursday, Dec. 1. Shots are available from your health care provider, county clinics and many pharmacies. Record your vaccination or submit your declination form in Health-e-Messaging.

Stay after work Thursday (Dec. 1) for the third annual “Night to End Campus Hunger,” a benefit for the ASUCD Pantry and the Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center. Appetizers, wine and beer; silent auction (featuring wine tasting tours, hotel stays, campus goodies and more); and buffet dinner in the Coffee House, all decked out to create a “fine-dining feel.” Tickets are $25.
