UCD Patches for Girl Scouts
|
UC Davis and Girl Scouts Heart of Central California have teamed up to encourage Girl Scouts in the region to participate in a custom patch series with activities that take participants through various areas of the university campus and expose Girl Scouts to STEM-specific majors and colleges within the university.

XC, Water Polo in Fall Finals
|
The NCAA’s fall championship season is underway! Over the weekend, Brianna Weidler competed in the cross-country final, “wrapping up one of the finest seasons in Aggie program history,” while men’s water polo won its seventh conference title to advance to the national tournament starting Dec. 1 at UC Berkeley. Go Ags!

Unitrans, Nov. 23-25 — Traditional pre-Thanksgiving shuttle to Sacramento International Airport, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, departing on the hour from the Memorial Union bus terminal. Fare is covered for undergraduates with AggieCards and for passholders; otherwise, the regular Unitrans fare of $1.25 applies. Also on Nov. 23: No night service. Thanksgiving Day: No service. Friday, Nov. 25: Weekend service.

Executive recruitment: Vice Provost and Dean-Undergraduate Education — Virtual public forums with two candidates will be held next week, both from 1:45 to 3 p.m.: Candidate C, Monday, Nov. 28; and Candidate A, Thursday, Dec. 1 (rescheduled from an earlier date). First-Year Aggie Connections — Faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to serve as facilitators for groups of 25 or so new freshman and transfer students during winter quarter. Each of these “connections” is different — some are associated with for-credit seminars or on-campus groups, while others are based on a common interest, including academic topics.

Call for staff volunteers for fall commencement — Two ceremonies will be held Saturday, Dec. 10: regular fall commencement at 10 a.m. and the last of three spring makeup ceremonies at 2 p.m. Interested staff members — and only staff members — are asked to sign up by Tuesday, Nov. 29.

2022 Security and Fire Safety Report (revised) — Dated Nov. 21, this revision contains fire statistics that were not available when the report was issued in September, along with the most recent version of the Sexual Violence Support Services and Reporting Options brochure.

Flu shots — All employees must receive a flu vaccination or formally opt out by Dec. 1. Shots are available from your health care provider, county clinics and many pharmacies. Record your vaccination or submit your declination form in Health-e-Messaging.

Taller Arte Del Nuevo Amanecer, or TANA, the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies’ artmaking outpost in Woodland, hosts a relaunch event for Huizache: The Magazine of a New America (formerly subtitled The Magazine of Latino Literature), now edited by Professor Maceo Montoya. The event will include readings by six writers. (Dec. 2, free, in person, 1224 Lemen Ave.)
“The Life and Legacies of Elizabeth ‘Betita’ Martínez,” new online exhibition from the UC Davis Library. Written and curated by Clarissa Rojas, assistant professor, Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies.

Nature Rx in December
This third annual benefit for the ASUCD Pantry and the Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center will feature a fine-dining experience at the Coffee House (see the fancy menu), accompanied by a silent auction. (Dec. 1, $25)
Wear your best holiday garb for Staff Assembly’s second annual Winter Warmer, featuring hot beverages and light snacks — and a cooking competition between two of the chefs responsible for UC Davis’ top-100 ranking for best U.S. college food. (11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, free, please register)
In this free, annual program for older adults, UC Davis Health provides information on best practices for healthy aging. Four classes on consecutive Saturdays, Feb. 4-25, on Zoom.
