Town Hall Topic: Fossil Fuels
|
Virtual town halls this Thursday and Friday (Nov. 17 and 18) will address a draft plan to eliminate the use of fossil fuels on campus by 2030. It’s one element of continuing work by Design and Construction Management and other units of Finance, Operations and Administration to improve campus sustainability.

Dementia in War Refugees
|
In the final episode of Season 4 of our Unfold podcast, we explore the research into the dementia that is starting to appear among the Southeast Asian refugees and immigrants who resettled in the U.S. after the fall of Saigon in 1975, and whether the trauma they experienced in the Vietnam War or its aftermath puts them more at risk.

Open enrollment — DEADLINE IS THIS FRIDAY: 5 p.m. Nov. 18. Be sure to consult the UC Davis open enrollment website for the special, reduced pricing for the UC Blue & Gold health plan.

Flu shots — All employees must receive a flu vaccination or formally opt out by Dec. 1. Shots are available from your health care provider, county clinics and many pharmacies. Record your vaccination or submit your declination form in Health-e-Messaging.

Associate Vice Chancellor-Office of Campus Community Relations — Open forums with the final three candidates for this position in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will be held virtually from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16; Thursday, Nov. 17; and Monday, Nov. 21. Unitrans, Nov. 23-25 — Traditional pre-Thanksgiving shuttle to Sacramento International Airport, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, departing on the hour from the Memorial Union bus terminal. Fare is covered for undergraduates with AggieCards and for passholders; otherwise, the regular Unitrans fare of $1.25 applies. Also on Nov. 23: No night service. Thanksgiving Day: No service. Friday, Nov. 25: Weekend Service.

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is having its open house in a larger space, the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. Program: Short presentations by diversity officers, a performance by Sacramento Area Youth Speaks, or SAYS, and a tour of the museum’s “Young, Gifted and Black” exhibition. (Nov. 18)
This eight-week program began last Thursday, but you can still sign up. You will receive weekly emails with challenges, tips and tools to help you incorporate healthy habits into your winter festivities. Brought to you by the Staff and Faculty Health and Well-Being Program. (Through Jan. 6)
