UC Joins AAAS and UC Davis in ‘SEA Change’ for Diversity
|
Two years after UC Davis became one of three charter members of the STEMM Equity Achievement (SEA) Change program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the University of California today (May 24) signed up to SEA Change as a system, the first institution to do so. “SEA Change will strengthen our work to train, recruit and retain a diverse professoriate,” President Michael V. Drake says.

AI Tool Created by Vet School a Potential Lifesaver for Dogs
|
Veterinarians and researchers in the School of Veterinary Medicine have developed a tool of artificial intelligence to predict the bacterial infection leptospirosis in dogs — an illness they can pick up from contaminated water. The tool provides early detection, which can mean the difference between life and death. Dean Mark Stetter says UC Davis is “leading the charge” to AI-based, clinical decision making in veterinary medicine.

DEI ‘Leaders, Change Agents’
|
UC Davis recently presented the 2022 Chancellor’s Achievement Awards for Diversity and Community, honoring an undergraduate and a graduate student, a postdoctoral fellow, and three staff and faculty members. “These are the leaders and change agents making a real difference in moving UC Davis toward a more diverse and inclusive campus community,” said Mikael Villalobos, interim associate vice chancellor for campus community relations.
