Memorial Day Ceremony Honors 136 Gold Star Aggies
|
UC Davis will honor its 136 Gold Star Aggies — former students who gave their lives in military service — next week in the campus's first in-person Memorial Day Ceremony since 2019. The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 26, in the Memorial Union’s North Courtyard. Rory Stuart, who divides his time as a physician with UC Davis Health and in the Air Force, will deliver the keynote.

‘Dream Big’ Is a Key Message of Cesar Chavez Conference
|
Junior high, high school and community college students flocked to UC Davis last Saturday (May 14) to hear messages on the life-changing power of education, and to learn about financial aid, services for undocumented students, paths to STEM careers and more. José Hernandez, a UC regent and a former astronaut, delivered one of the keynote addresses.

What a Day! Thank Goodness for Staff and TGFS Organizers
|
Gunrock mobbed for photos! Twenty-two food trucks serving free lunches! Chancellor May in the dunk tank! It could be only one thing: Thank Goodness for Staff on Russell Field, last Wednesday (May 11), under a sunny sky. TGFS After Dark was held the night before, for alternate-shift workers, and a drive-in movie rounded out the week.

Putah Creek Wetlands proposal — An on-site meeting Wednesday (May 18) will be the last in a series offering the public an opportunity to learn more about this habitat enhancement and public access project. It would be developed jointly by UC Davis and the city of Davis on university-owned land between Levee Road and the Davis campus’s southern boundary.

The UC Davis Marching Band hosts this event featuring music by local bands along with carnival games and prizes, concessions and silent auction, benefiting the marching band to help pay its expenses, including travel, and instrument purchase and repair. The bash will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday (May 22) at Davis’ Central Park. Third and C streets. Free admission. The silent auction will close at 7 p.m., and the day will conclude with a performance by the marching band at 7:30 p.m.
