Next Book Project Focuses on Public Safety, Policing
|
The 2022-23 Campus Community Book Project is Defund Fear: Safety Without Policing, Prisons, and Punishment by Zach Norris, a book that aims to move discussions on public safety toward finding ways to support and build strong communities. Organizers are now looking ahead to a year of discussions, lectures and other events, and you can help plan them. Nominations are also welcome for the 2023-24 book.

COVID Testing Says Goodbye to ARC, Hello to HR Building
|
When the campus’s asymptomatic COVID-19 testing center reopens after the Fourth of July holiday, it will have a new home: the Human Resources Administration Building across the street from the ARC, which has hosted the center over the course of more than 1 million tests. Campus Recreation officials are excited to use the space for sports again, but are proud for having played a role in our renowned testing program.

Researching Psychedelics

Experts at UC Davis are looking for new ways to treat conditions like depression, and have even synthesized compounds similar to hallucinogenic drugs found in nature. “It’s a paradigm shift to a healing-based approach,” one says.
