|
UC Davis Medals, the university’s highest honor, will be presented this spring to two alumni couples — Jacque and Wayne Bartholomew, and Pam Rohrich and Karl Gerdes — each pair having met as students and committing not only to each other but their alma mater, supporting a number of programs over the years.

‘New Hot Air’ Wins Grad Slam
|
Ph.D. student Alice Dien will represent UC Davis in the systemwide Grad Slam next month with her three-minute presentation on “Cooling Down With the New Hot Air,” about a more sustainable way of drying food. Top Honors in QS Rankings
|
Quacquarelli Symonds, considered one of the most influential international university rankings providers, ranked UC Davis first in the U.S. and second in the world in two fields: veterinary science, and agriculture and forestry. The university earned top-50 world rankings in six other subjects and top-20 U.S. rankings in eight.

Renewing Our Commitment
|
A tree-planting ceremony held recently at the Native American Contemplative Garden along the Arboretum Waterway (to replace a treasured California buckeye, nearly 40 feet tall) also served to renew the university’s commitment to recognize the Patwin as the original inhabitants of the land that became the home of UC Davis.

Assessment of support of student mental health — The Division of Student Affairs seeks participation across the Davis and Sacramento campuses in a survey of departments and units that provide services related to student wellness, life skill development, social connection, mental health support, crisis intervention and/or self-care. Deadline: 4 p.m. April 29.

Aggie Enterprise Town Hall — Join Vice Chancellor Kelly Ratliff and Assistant Vice Chancellor Matt Okamoto for an overview of how Aggie Enterprise and Oracle Cloud Financials will transform business operations at UC Davis. Staff Experience Survey — The response rate as of 8 a.m. today (April 12) was 47%, with 18 days remaining until the April 29 deadline. Your responses not only help UC Davis become a better place to work, but earn contributions to the Staff Emergency Fund: $7,022 so far from Human Resources ($2 for every response received by April 11, and $1 thereafter until the deadline), and a maximum $4,000 match from Staff Assembly.

And, this year, when we say “take them to work,” we mean the real workplace, in person, Thursday, April 28. Departments and units will present all kinds of activities — sort of like a mini-Picnic Day for kids. Everyone should register. Some activities have attendance caps, and during registration you can sign up for lotteries for a chance to get your children into those events.
