A Ph.D. student in Native American studies leads a successful, four-year effort to transfer the remains of a relative, an orphaned Alaska Native, from the Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Pennsylvania, where she died in 1906, to her home island in the Bering Sea.

Every month from October through May, staff and faculty can buy $10 tickets (maximum two per person) during a specified period of time for a specific show at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. The first deal of the year is for the center’s season opener: Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14. Tickets must be purchased from Oct. 1 to 8.
