Executive Order for Flu Shots
|
Citing a threat to the health and safety of the UC community and the public at large, due to the potential confluence of infections from COVID-19 and influenza, UC issues an executive order requiring all students, staff, and faculty and other academic appointees to get vaccinated against influenza or affirmatively opt out on or before Nov. 19.

Short on Student Workers
|
The campus is humming again, but many units that rely on student employees aren’t quite up to speed. Unitrans, the CoHo, Dining Services and others are understaffed to the tune of 1,500 students, and some have had to reduce services as a result. Many are offering extra incentives like higher pay and referral bonuses in the form of $50 gift cards.

Society of Hellman Fellows
|
UC Davis has awarded its annual Hellman Fellowships, which provide research funding to faculty members when they need it the most: early in their careers. The 15 award recipients for 2021-22 are now members of the Society of Hellman Fellows; the "society" name is relatively new, but the fellowships date back to 2008.

Curtain Up at the Mondavi
|
From UC Davis Magazine: Jackson Hall, dark for the last 19 months, comes back to life Thursday night (Oct. 14) with Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, launching the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts’ 20th season. “Virtually every show has the potential to be quite the experience,” says Don Roth, the center’s executive director.
