Bias in Artificial Intelligence

Computer programs make increasingly important decisions, but those programs have been shown to do a better job at detecting white faces and the faces of men. “Things like racial profiling existed before these tools,” a UC Davis researcher says. “AI just enhances an existing bias.”

Art Museum Sets Reopening

The Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art will reopen to the public June 3 with advance timed tickets (still free) and other health and safety protocols in place. The exhibitions are the same as announced last fall, including “Wayne Thiebaud Influencer: A New Generation.”
