Another Open-Access Deal
|
The agreement means University of California affiliates will again have access to all articles published in Elsevier journals to which the system previously subscribed and more, plus open access publishing of UC research in nearly 2,300 journals. The agreement goes into effect April 1.

As champion of the Big West Conference women’s basketball tournament last week, the Aggies win a trip to the NCAAs for the second year in a row — and this time they get to go, after last year's tournament was canceled. The Aggies will play Missouri State at 4:30 p.m. PDT Monday (March 22).

|
Some invasive species targeted for eradication bounce back with a vengeance, especially in aquatic systems, according to a study that chronicles the effort — and failure — to rid a California estuary of European green crabs. After about 90 percent had been removed, the population grew 30-fold.

UC Global Health Day Creative Expressions Contest — Three categories: photography, video and poetry. Open to UC students, trainees (i.e., postdocs), fellows, residents, and faculty and staff, among others. Entry deadline: March 28. This year’s UC Global Health Day will be virtual, Saturday, April 24, with the theme of “Decolonizing Global Health to Advance Health Equity.”

Graduate Studies Anti-Racism Symposium — Call for proposals for presenter-led sessions on recently-developed anti-racist initiatives in graduate education. Deadline: March 29.

Staff Assembly Citations of Excellence — Call for nominations for citations recognizing staff members and teams at UC Davis and UC Davis Health for outstanding achievement in teaching, research, service, innovation or supervision, or as a team. Deadline: April 14.

Annual asbestos notification — Dated March 16, this notice is required by the California Health and Safety Code, notifying all employees of the presence of asbestos in campus buildings constructed prior to 1979.
