COVID-19 Protocols Revised

Task Force’s Final Report

It’s been a year since Chancellor May convened a group to look at the future of policing at UC Davis, and now that task force has delivered its final report and eight recommendations, including the creation of a mental health crisis team and a new restorative justice program, as well as ongoing review of issues like the arming of police officers.

A National and UC Holiday

The University of California will observe the new federal holiday, commemorating the end of slavery, next Monday (June 28). Most employees will have the day off and classes have been canceled. The Academic Senate is preparing guidance for instructors about the loss of an instructional day, and instructors will inform students about any additional course changes.

Women on Ballot to Stay

A surge in female candidates after the 2016 presidential election is unlikely to be a “flash in the pan” for women’s political representation, says Rachel Bernhard, assistant professor of political science, co-author of a new study on the subject. Countering one narrative, Bernhard says: “Far from being ‘sore losers,’ women who run for office are just as likely to persist as men.”
