UC Davis Fire Department student EMTs and firefighters are seeing emotion on both sides of the needle at the Davis campus COVID-19 vaccine clinic. The recipients are happy to be getting their shots, and the fire personnel who are administering the bulk of the vaccinations are humbled to be part of the effort.

UC Davis Health has vaccinated tens of thousands of people against COVID-19 since Dec. 15 and the Davis campus has given around 2,000 doses of the vaccine since Feb. 1. But the university has the capacity to do far more for patients, employees and underserved communities — if only we had the supply.

New Endowed Chair Is a First in African American Studies
|
Alumni and longtime university supporters Lois and Darryl Goss say they created the chair specifically “due to the current climate around social justice.” The chair is named after Darryl’s parents, Austin and Arutha Goss, credited by Darryl and Lois with teaching them the value of education and lifelong learning.
