- “Prenatal Origins of Health and Vulnerability” — Christopher Coe, professor of biopsychology and director of the Harlow Center for Biological Psychology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, is the first speaker in the MIND Institute’s 2018-19 Distinguished Lecturer Series, featuring nationally and internationally recognized researchers in neurodevelopmental disorders. - International Conference of Food Science and Technology — Hosted by UC Davis, which joined with Jiangnan University of China in establishing the conference in 1991. The universities have organized and hosted 12 conferences since then. (Oct. 2-3)
- International Oak Society Conference — This triennial conference comes to Northern California for the first time, hosted by the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden, Oct. 21-24. Registration closes Sept. 15.

- Town halls to aid in search for vice chancellor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion — The recruitment advisory committee will hold three town halls Sept. 27 — two on the Davis campus (morning and afternoon) and one on the Sacramento campus (midday) — to gather opinions from members of the campus community about the qualities we should be looking for in candidates and our expectations of the recruitment.
- Call for proposals for Campus Research Core Facilities (CRCF) Pilot and Feasibility Program — Funding for short-term pilot projects or feasibility studies is available to UC Davis researchers for use at Campus Research Core Facilities, to encourage new use and trials of new technology or approaches. Deadline: Sept. 14.
