The Constitution and civility

Separate programs Thursday (Oct. 27) will focus on the Constitution (specifically, the First Amendment) and campus civility. The constitutional program (4 p.m. at the law school) features Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, talking on "The First Amendment in the Age of Information Overload." The Civility Project, part of the Building a More Inclusive Community initiative, presents its launch event, starting at 5 p.m. with an exhibition opening and a reception, and continuing at 7 with the premiere of an original theatre work: (Un)Civil (Dis)Obedience. Book project: Faculty talks, museum curator, film

Many faculty members are lined up to give presentations during the next few weeks in the Campus Community Book Project: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie. Other events in the next few weeks include a recent documentary film, Reel Injun: On the Trail of the Hollywood Indian; and a presentation by P. Christiaan Klieger, cultural anthropologist and curator at The California Museum, where one of the featured exhibitions now under way is the 100th Anniversary of Ishi's Discovery, referring to "California's best known and most misunderstood native."
