A blueprint for freedom of expression on campus
A working group of faculty, staff and students has made a number of recommendations for ensuring free expression at UC Davis while maintaining safety. Among them: a series of town halls and workshops, creation of disciplinary rules for those who disrupt events, increased coordination with the city of Davis and other law enforcement agencies, and creation of a standing Freedom of Expression Committee. - "Safety, Why It Matters (Elizabeth's Story)" — Safety Services is sponsoring this talk by Jim Welch of the Elizabeth R. Griffin Research Foundation, which studies and promotes biosafety. The nonprofit foundation's namesake died in 1997 from ocular exposure to a macaque (monkey) virus at Emory University's Yerkes National Primate Research Center, where she was employed in primate research.
