 'Keep Calm and Walk On'The fifth annual UC Walks is Wednesday (May 21). Thirty-minute group walks will depart at 12:15 p.m. from five locations: Quad (east side), Mrak Hall (north side), Health Sciences District (in front of Scrubs Café), Cousteau Place and Research Park Drive (courtyard between the UC Davis Extension and Accounting and Financial Services buildings). Chancellor to form advisory group for third campus idea
Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi announces plans to create an advisory group of deans, faculty, staff and students to help UC Davis explore the academic program for a possible new campus in Sacramento. She says ideas and visions for this third campus should be based on three activities and ideas that best fit UC Davis' strengths and priorities: policy orientation, food and health, and clinical activities and outreach focusing on healthy living and wellness. THURSDAY CEREMONY: Honoring the 135th fallen Aggie
UC Davis holds a Memorial Day service this Thursday (May 22) on the north side of the Memorial Union, a building that stands in tribute to Aggies who died in military service back to World War I. Each of them has a page in the Golden Memory Book, to be rededicated this year with an additional page, for Lt. Col. Mark D. Taylor '86, an Army surgeon killed in Iraq in 2004. Carmichael confirmed as campus police chief
As acting police chief the last two years, Matt Carmichael "has earned wide respect on and off campus and made significant changes to strengthen the department and its relations with the rest of the campus," Chancellor Linda P.B. Introducing our new Police Accountability Board
UC Davis' two-year pilot project for civilian review of the campus Police Department begins in earnest at a campus forum next week. You'll meet the board members and alternates — all students, faculty and staff from the Davis and Sacramento campuses — and have the opportunity to ask questions. Professor Robert Powell, former chair of the Division of the Academic Senate and the systemwide Academic Senate, has been named chair of the joint Science and Technology Committee for the UC-affiliated corporations that run Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Keep alternate transportation in mind, including the intercampus shuttle, running more frequently — and, at no charge! — during Stage 2: May 27-June 25. Isabella's Dream

A new work choreographed and directed by Henry Daniel (a Granada artist in residence) as part of his Project Barca: Going West to Find East/Going East to Find West. Students from a wide range of disciplines make up the cast of Isabella's Dream, in which they offer their personal narratives to link the historic events of 1492 to today. "In doing so," Daniel says, "their actions raise questions concerning the human urge to discover, to adventure and subsequently to colonize, take hold of, and/or occupy various new territories, physical, psychological and otherwise."
