Making music in a new space

The university selects a design-build team for the $15 million Classroom and Music Recital Hall, to go next to the Music Building on the campus's east side. Donors so far include Grace and Grant Noda of Davis ($1.5 million) and every member of the music faculty and staff. UC seeks comment on proposed IT Accessibility Policy

As UC policies go, it is relatively short, only four pages. But, oh, how important it is in the electronic information age at a public university. The proposed policy states in part: "The University of California is committed to supporting an information technology environment that is accessible to all, and in particular to individuals with disabilities." The UC Davis Electronic Accessibility Committee couldn't agree more — and has been making strides in this area since 2009. Regional, national audiences to hear about 16-month budget project

In the summer of 2011, Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi declared that UC Davis would take control of its own destiny by developing new financial strategies and a new budget model. And whereas other academic institutions might have taken two to three years to make the switch, UC Davis did it in 16 months. Like father, like teen-age son: Presenters at clinical oncology meeting

Father and son Primo "Lucky" Lara Jr. and Matthew Lara of Davis are both presenting tomorrow (June 1) at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology: Matthew with a poster and his dad with an unrelated talk on his own cancer research. He's a medical oncologist and researcher at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, and his son is a sophomore at Davis High School. [ More… ]

Staff Assembly presents Citations for Excellence, scholarships
