U.S. Bank closes branch, terminates agreements with the campus
U.S. Bank has closed its UC Davis branch office and told UC officials that it is terminating its agreements with the campus. In a March 1 letter to the Board of Regents, the bank stated its reason as the interference by protesters who have intermittently blocked the door to the bank branch in the Memorial Union since January. UC officials said they believe the termination letter is premature. They had hoped to resolve the situation in a manner that would have enabled the bank to resume operations while at the same time allowing law enforcement to prosecute proven violations of the California Penal Code and also allow for peaceful protests. New name for cancer center reflects national honor, 'comprehensive' status
From now on, it is the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center — in recognition of the world's most prestigious honor in oncology: a "comprehensive" designation from the National Cancer Institute, recognizing the UC Davis center's advances in research, care and outreach. [ More… ]

'Family member verification' packets are in the mail
Do you have family members who are enrolled with you in UC-sponsored medical, dental and vision plans? If so, watch your mail at home for a white envelope, clearly marked as being from UC and having to do with "family member verification." This is not junk mail. This is important stuff. You must respond with documentation by May 17, or you run the risk of having yourself and your family members de-enrolled from plan coverage. Family members found to be ineligible for insurance through the verification process will also be de-enrolled. [ More… ]
