Tracy Caldwell Dyson, a NASA astronaut and UC Davis alumna, will give a public lecture March 3, part of the College of Letters and Science 60th anniversary celebration. Caldwell Dyson received her doctorate in chemistry from UC Davis in 1997 and has been on two missions to the International Space Station. [ More… ]

Students raise funds to meet emergency needs

UC Davis students are coupling Aggie Pride with compassion to help meet the needs of fellow students. Through a new effort called "We Are Aggie Pride," a volunteer board of seven students aims to create a fund to provide financial support to students with emergency needs. Chancellor presents diversity-community achievement awards

The Chancellor's Achievement Awards for Diversity and Community this year recognized more than double the number of people, with a special citation added for the nine-member SACNAS planning committee. Chancellor's Colloquium: Michael Dukakis to speak Feb. 27

Michael Dukakis served an unprecedented three terms as governor of Massachusetts and was the 1988 Democratic nominee for president. Since leaving office, he has served as a visiting professor at many colleges and universities including Harvard University, University of Hawaii, Northeastern University and UCLA. How high will you go with CoHo cafe's cornbread and chili?

The newly opened CoHo South Cafe, in the new Student Community Center, has something big and special to dig into. It's the Chili Stack, something you can't even get at the Coffee House in the Memorial Union. The Chili Stack is unique, all right. Actually, all three of them are unique: the regular, two layers of cornbread smothered by vegetarian, four-bean chili, topped with cheese and onions; the Triple Stack; and — wait for it — the Quad Stack, weighing in at almost 2 pounds. UC to launch original YouTube channel

On March 1, University of California Television will launch a new YouTube original channel, UCTV Prime, the first university-run channel to be included among YouTube's new production partnerships with recognizable brands like The Wall Street Journal, Madonna and TED. Exhibitions: Reimagining Shields, researching 'elegant pit stops'

Architect Mark Kessler, assistant professor in the Department of Design, is key to a pair of exhibitions: one at Shields Library, where his students are showing possible redesigns for the library itself, and the other at the San Francisco History Expo, where Kessler's research is the inspiration behind Elegant Pit Stops, showcasing SF public garages built between the Great Earthquake and the Great Depression.
