CounterACT center's mission: neurotoxin countermeasures

The federal government has given $17 million to establish a center of excellence called UC Davis CounterACT, part of a U.S. network dealing with countermeasures against chemical threats. Fructose consumption tied to heart disease, diabetes

Researchers identify fructose — a simple sugar used in beverages — as a possible contributor to the development of metabolic syndrome, which can boost the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The researchers included Kimber Stanhope, who recently appeared in a 60 Minutes report, "Sugar." [ More… ]

Staff Assembly presents Citations for Excellence

Seven individuals and five teams are recognized, and, from among them, Staff Assembly gives "distinguished" citations to three individuals and two teams. "Without the many outstanding contributions from our staff, UC Davis would not enjoy its world-class reputation when it comes to fulfilling our mission in teaching, research and public service," Chancellor Linda P.B.
