Regents: Budget, incentive pay, stipends
The promise of additional state money means UC may not cut fall enrollment as much as feared; also, systemwide waiting lists are being established for the first time. Seven UC Davis Medical Center executives are among 38 senior managers in the UC health system who will receive a total of $3.1 million in incentive pay. Health system reputation growing, but rising indigent costs create financial burden
UC Davis Health System is gaining widespread recognition for its academic and clinical excellence and social justice commitment, even while it faces financial difficulty, said Claire Pomeroy, UC Davis vice chancellor for Human Health Sciences and dean of the School of Medicine, in her Jan. 13 State of the Health System address. New horizons in Spain?
A five-member delegation from UC Davis and the UC Office of the President is in Spain this week to discuss a Spanish corporation's interest in building a comprehensive branch campus of an American university outside Madrid. Several months ago, a Madrid-based educational consulting firm approached UC Davis to gauge its interest in creating a branch campus about 20 miles south of Madrid. [ More… ]
Lighting center gets bigger, smarter and $10 million
At just five years old, the California Lighting Technology Center at UC Davis has so many successful projects under way that it has moved into a new facility with twice the space. Earlier this week, the center hosted an open house to show off the energy-saving lighting systems ready now and coming soon for homes, offices, businesses, and even parking lots. [ More… ]
UC Davis receives $2.5M in federal funding for West Village renewable energy project
UC Davis will receive a federal grant of $2.5 million through the Department of Energy to create an innovative waste-to-energy project for its West Village housing community. The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts has announced another "just added" event: Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Elvis Costello in concert, April 7. In addition to the regular 10-percent discount, UC Davis faculty and staff are also entitled to buy tickets early, starting Jan. 27. Ticket sales to the general public are set to begin Feb. 1. The Retiree Center's Healthy 'til 100 and Beyond Wellness Challenge begins today and runs through May 3. Retirees and active employees alike are invited to participate, free of charge. Organizers said all participants will receive coupons for a 25-percent discount for Davis' GAP store and a free yogurt at Cultive Frozen Yogurt in Davis.
