UC Davis: Are you 'ready'?

Dozens of campus units are creating plans for continuing essential functions after a departmental emergency or larger campus disaster. A new UC Davis study is the first to show that retirement-aged Americans who held higher-status jobs — such as executives and managers — tended to have the lowest rates of hypertension, while those who had lower-status jobs tended to have the highest rates. Workers in positions such as sales, administrative support, construction and food preparation have little control over decision-making and experience higher levels of stress, which can lead to high blood pressure and serious health problems.
